Weekly Competition

The speedsolving.com forum holds a weekly online competition where the various scrambles are posted each week and competitiors enter the events at home, posting their results for entry into an ongoing results database. The official WCA rules (http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/) are used but of course the events are not under full competition conditions!

I started entering at competition 2009-03 (the third week of 2009) and the events I'm entering are as follows: -

2x2x2, 3x3x3, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 7x7x7, MegaMinx, Snake, Pyraminx, 3x3x3 With feet, 3x3x3 One Handed, 2x2x2 + 3x3x3 + 4x4x4 Relay, 2x2x2 + 3x3x3 + 4x4x4 + 5x5x5 Relay

As soon as I obtain the puzzles and achieve reliable solves I'll be entering the Square-1, clock, magic, and 6x6x6 too. I'm not very fast but I love to take part (even if I get a bit frustrated sometimes - especially with the 4x4x4!).

Weekly competition 2009-03

2x2x2: 49.14, 50.80, 1:13.07, 1:09.39, 48.10
3x3x3: 1:08.73, 51.34, 1:02.81, 1:17.82 , 57.94 
 4x4x4: 6:24.50 (DNF can't solve parity!), 4:52.85, (I think I'm giving up here)  
5x5x5: (not enough hours in the day) 
7x7x7: (I'd like to try but just the scramble would take me until 2am!)  
MegaMinx: 8:10.30, 9:02.13, 8:50.26, 8:05.86, 8:34.75 (enjoyable solves)

 

Weekly competition 2009-04

2x2x2: (1:21:01), 1:14.46, 45.92, (39.23). 1:12.40 -- (very-beginners' method!)
3x3x3: 1:06.55, (51.64), 55.45, 1:05.88, (1:08.53) -- (New cube, just stickered, not yet lubed, thumb injury!) 
4x4x4: 7:11.42 (rather drunk due to Burns' Night celebrations, had to stop half way to fix the television for my wife!) DNF (completely messed up trying to fix parity!) (yet to be completed) 
5x5x5: 10:18.00, 13:39.00 (rubbish at tredges, stupid mess up trying to do 4LLL),(yet to be completed) 
7x7x7: 27:49.00, (yet to be completed) MegaMinx: (11:36.00), 8:26.45, 8:49.99, (6:33.84), 7:32.76 -- (new PB lucky OLL skip)

Weekly competition 2009-05

2x2x2:   3x3x3: 2:00.36 (soooo baaaaad! I completely messed up in so many ways),  1:18.90 (I sat staring at the F2L possibilities for about 20 seconds thinking "why am I doing this?" ),  54.69, 49.18, 58.41   4x4x4: 9:54.17 (terrible failure at a single flipped edge parity that messed up faces and edges),  5:17.31, DNF (I hadn't the heart to continue when a parity fix failure destroyed my work!),  9:30.31, 6:49.86   5x5x5: 12:08.00, 11:25.00, 11:17.00 (did great with edges but messed up twice attempting 4LLL and dropped back to beginners' methods!),  10:21.00 (better - just did final LL as beginners' [OELL, PELL, PCLL, OCLL]), 8:34.94 (new personal best?)   7x7x7:   MegaMinx: 7:55.08, 6:36.35 (new PB?), 8:59.66, 10:27.00 (I dislike going over 10 mins because my laptop screen goes blank for energy saving!), 8:20.28  General excuse: thumb injury of past 2 weeks has now become infected!
