Home audio over CAT5

Some years ago I started playing with CAT5 cabling for 100Mbit LAN and got quite adept at wiring with the ol' Krone punchdown tool and RJ45 sockets and plugs. I found that you could run two independent LAN channels over one CAT5 cable and made a few adapter cables for poor-man's LAN cabling - useful in the home or when you have no switch and only one long cable. I then created adapters to connect a stereo audio source or sink to use three of the four "spare" conductors of CAT5 as a conduit for stereo audio but encountered annoying DC hum. I've now acquired the dangerous knowledge of isolating transformers which I will apply tonight!
