Mick's Arcade Cab
Mick's Arcade Cabinet - Page2
Page the second - in which I find a new keyboard controller and I start to build a cheap cabinet.
Ooh! A likely looking Elonex keyboard.
And what a cute little keyboard controller you have!
This won't hurt a bit - YOINK!
The conductors on the ribbon connectors are just the right pitch to use this posting for standard connectors.
More on this later.
So I have some cabinet designs based on Defender but tweaked to suit my spare 17" monitor.
I've decided to use MDF for the exterior surfaces - a nicer finish than chipboard for painting.
Starting with a nice sturdy base: 18mm chipboard and a couple of 2x4's.
Making the first few cuts of the sides with circular saw and a good straight-edge (e.g. Ian McKaye :) ).
Rough assembly of base, sides and back. I'm using sliding angle plates on short screws.
The upper-front profile isn't yet finalised: will be highly dependent on the height of the monitor shelf (not yet decided).
Awaiting monitor shelf.
